AU Minkie Pie

I've had this idea for many, MANY months, probably since before "meet the team." this is Minkie pie in an alternate universe where she wasn't thrown into the cellar as a filly. now, I'm not going to write an AU story, so i'll just explain what happened here in this lovely description box that no one reads. here we go!

after Minkie pie discovered her baby sister, instead of disobeying her parents like she did originally, she did not sneak in to see inkie pie. she stayed away from the child just like she was told, though she very much wanted to play with her. one day, Minkie very nicely asked her mother if she could play with the baby and promised she would be gentle, but cloudy quartz, who was chopping up a carrot as she prepared dinner, got angry and yelled at her. Minkie pie was tired of being yelled at, so she yelled back, which made cloudy's anger rise, and she slashed the foal across the face with the knife she was using. in truth, she hadn't meant to do that, but instead of apologizing, she told Minkie that she deserved it.

forced to take care of her new wound on her own, Minkie decided she could not take it anymore. when her parents were asleep, she packed a large amount of food and a few blankets in a sack, and left home. she didn't know where to go, so she hid in a cave near the dragon colony. it was cold and lonesome, but she set up a little bed by a large rock and fell asleep.

now, just like inkie pie said in "just a little girl time," Minkie was still "locked up" inside her own head. she still had that bout of crazy brewing in her mind. she often times contemplated returning home, but the scar on her face told her not to, even though she wanted to see her little sister. however, she soon ran out of food, so she was forced to journey down to the village at night and break into houses to steal what little food they had, even her own. her cutie mark appeared the first time Minkie had to pick a lock. (kind of cliché, I know.) she sort of figured that the mark could also signify her taking care of herself, a sense of freedom, though she was still unhappy.

Minkie pie was a young teen when three earth foals wandered up to the cave one day. one was a dull lavender color, one was bright pink, and the third looked oddly familiar with her slate color, and Minkie pie recognized her as her little sister. after they all introduced themselves, Minkie was amazed to hear that the other two were her sisters as well, and Minkie told her story about how their parents treated her. then, the younger pies explained what they planned to used the cave for, and told her about making cupcakes. she was more than happy to join them, and they even convinced her to come back home, promising that they would protect her against their parents.

cloudy and igneous were NOT happy to see their eldest daughter, but their other three fillies insisted that she was a good pony, and they misunderstood her. pinkie pie could not stop bouncing around the dark mare, super excited about her long lost sister, so the parents reluctantly allowed her to stay. they still were very scared of Minkie pie, but there was nothing they could do about it now that their younger three daughters knew of her existence.

Minkie pie found herself smiling quite often in the company of her sisters, choosing to ignore her parents' cold glares. when torturing ponies for their cupcakes, Minkie allowed her madness to release, and it was enough so that she didn't lose her mind, keeping all hatred and sadness from building up inside of her. she spoke more, though her voice was still quite soft. she was healthy because she had food and shelter, and she didn't have trouble sleeping because she had her bed back. she never had the chance for her mane and tail to overgrow, nor was she forced to wither for two decades, so her eyes never sunk in, hence the shadows are not there.

when pinkie pie left for Ponyville, all three of her sisters stayed behind, and without the pink pony's energy, it became dull and a bit sad. the sisters became quite annoyed with the work, and without pinkie pie, their parents grew irritated at the smallest things. they verbally abused Minkie pie, and when inkie and Blinkie tried to intervene, they'd get yelled at and told to go to their room. when cloudy decided to start getting physical again, Minkie pie, who was covered in bruises, told her sisters that she was going to kill their parents, and threatened them if they tried to stop her. they were insulted by the threat, but said, "do you really think we'd oppose you?" and so they made cupcakes. after that, they went to Ponyville to reunite with pinkie pie.

her personality isn't drastically different, but she is MUCH less scary at first glance. she's about at scary as inkie pie and Blinkie pie. she also knows how to read and is much more educated on social behavior, so she knows how to keep cool in public. she's pretty independent, and uses her role of oldest sister effectively, taking very good care of her younger sisters and being there for them emotionally. she is much stronger because she did not wallow for twenty years in her own hatred and pain. again, though, she is still disturbed, just like her sisters, so she is scary when the time is right.
